I’m doing something a little different. Instead of writing a long intro to this pictorial, I’m just going to throw these images out there.
So, this is Signal Hill recording their newest material with Jeff Lewis at The Compound.

Aside from these images of the Compound’s official guard kitty, everything else is in black and white.

“How do you describe your music?” is probably the most common question that post rock bands get asked. It also happens to be the most difficult to answer. To me, post rock is like that background music that catches your ear and hit places in your brain that had never been stimulated by any other genre of music. Once you are exposed to it, chances are it will find some place in your library. Some sleep to it, some study, some drive to it, I write and edit to it while others completely rock out at shows. All reactions seem to be warmly welcomed by the post rock community. It is a category so wide open that the only real thing any one post rock band has with another is the lack of live vocals and the creative use of samples, build ups and break downs and a dollop of moodiness on top. It’s a nice change of pace if you’re one of those folks who happens to get lyrics stuck in their heads for an entire day at a time.. (You know the cure for that is listening to the song, right)

I digress.

So, Beware of Safety is a Los Angeles based post rock instrumental band originally formed by a couple of pals, Molter and Kay back in Boston. The group recently added their first bass player in years, Tad. I must say, after having been on the road with these guys for a few days and hearing them play many times since then, that Tad is a fantastic new addition to Jeff, Morgan, Molter, and Kay.

One afternoon, we hit up the neighborhood to get some new press shots that included their newly coveted (and well loved) member. Beware of Safety recently released a new album too so their new photos serve a dual purpose. You can check out their music here. We ended up with quite a few images, but here are some of our favorites:
